    Air Quality Statement

    By askelhorne 05/17/2023, 3:00pm MDT

No interleague games when the air quality is 7 or higher

Hello ball players, coaches, and parents

It is no secret that Alberta is currently experiencing an unusually high number of wildfires and that is having a dramatic impact on our air quality.  Edmonton Little League District 2 has implemented air quality rules designed to protect the health and safety of our baseball community.  District 2 interleague outdoor baseball games cannot proceed if the air quality index for the Edmonton region is seven (7) or higher using the following Government of Canada website as the source.

    https://weather.gc.ca/airquality/pages/provincial_summary/ab_e.html

If the air quality index is 7 or higher two (2) hours before game time the games will be postponed.  If the air quality is initially six (6) or below but then increases to seven (7) or higher the game must be stopped.

The Little League Northern Girls "We Got Game" Jamboree including a special Breast Cancer Fundraiser is an event where girls locally and from afar will come together as individuals to improve their baseball/softball skills, meet girls from their area or other locations, build friendships, have fun, and play ball! Our goal is to spread the word about girls’ playing baseball or softball together, provide a fun and safe playing environment and give girls an opportunity to play with other girls. This will also give them a chance to be involved with helping a cause “Breast Cancer Society” and the importance of giving  as well.

The Little League Northern Girls "We Got Game' Jamboree and Breast Cancer Fundraiser will be held in Calgary, Alberta on June 9-11.
